All done!

Eddie said "all done" a few times in this video. Of course as soon as I stopped recording he said it like twenty times in a row...but at least you can hear it a few times.

Home-grown food comin' right up!

So our planter is pretty much done!! This morning Greg went and got dirt from this wholesale place in West Jordan and we filled our box for only $20!  So much better than the $120+ that that much soil was going to cost from Home Depot.  We fit eight plastic totes in the back of the Jeep, and six were good soil, and two were AWESOME, black, wood chippey ones that we put on top.

Eddie watched and played in his play pen while trying to surreptitiously snag a broom handle.  He really likes those right now...

But then he got bored in there so I put him in the boxes- much funner, apparently.

Greg helped me plant all my fruits and veggies.  We have cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, red peppers, cucumber, zucchini, romaine lettuce, strawberries, raspberries, and my blueberries will go in the empty space on the left-hand side.

Eddie finally got picked up by Daddy.

Here are some of my plants all cozy in their new home:

Locked myself out of the car!

While Eddie and I were at the nursery yesterday buying plants, I realized I had left my keys in the car.  Lucky for me, I keep a handy-dandy hide-a-key under my car.  Two problems though:  one, what to do with Eddie while I was looking for it- because he likely would run into to the rest of the parking lot.  Well, this was solved when I got under the car- Eddie thought it was so funny to see Mommy lying under the car that he didn't go anywhere.  Then I opened a nutrigrain bar and put it in the lower rack of my cart, and Eddie climbed right in and stayed there in his 'fort' until I was done.  The second problem was that I couldn't find the key box!  I was about to call a locksmith when finally I realized I'd been staring at it the whole time- it was just all covered with mud so it looked like the rest of the car. *grins sheepishly

This is a shot I got earlier as I was making my planter.  Eddie liked to walk on top of the boards like a balance beam.

This was from Walmart a while back.  I saw a hat a plopped it on his head, but my camera takes so long to focus that he had moved by the time I shot it, of course.  Still cute though.

My new planter!

The other day, I asked my boss if I could have a garden in the yard, and he said sure!  He said he would bring me over a planter- that the company had a bunch.  But then he remembered they had given them all away to all the other managers already, so he said I could go to Home Depot and buy the stuff to make the planter on the company's dime.  So I bought two 2x12 pieces of Douglas Fir at 12 feet long, and cut four feet off the ends of both to make my short sides.  I also got brackets, screws, and painter's plastic.

First I bracketed the edges together.

Now it's starting to look like a planter!

Then me and the wind played with the painter's plastic for a while.

But I won!

While I was working, I had Eddie's little kiddie pool all set up, and fenced him in so I could work without being paranoid that he would run into the driveway.  Actually, the kid cage fit the pool perfectly!

Eddie had a great time- sunscreen, of course, hat, toys, and water made for a great time.

He kept looking down at the water- either he saw the tiny pieces of dried grass floating in it, or liked the shimmer of the water reflecting the sun.

Play with the box it came in.

I got some stuff in the mail today- (namely overnight diapers, flushable wipes, and extra balls for Eddie's giraffe) and the box they came in made Eddie incredibly curious! So I put him in it, and not only did he play in it for this entire movie, but he played happily in it for a good fifteen minutes afterward too. Yet, he won't play in a playpen...?

Apparently, getting into stuff is the fad right now, because I also found him in here today.

Then once he figured out that all he needed to do was to tip it over, well then the box became a 'fort'.  So he played in it for a while, then decided that throwing ball all around the kitchen and then chasing them was fun too, so that occupied him after that.  So I know the stuff I ordered wasn't exactly toys, but basically the moral of the story is that the box it came in is almost always funner than 'it', whatever the case may be.

Our new chandelier.

Long have I wanted proper lighting over my dining table. And by that I mean...any. For some reason, at every apartment we've lived in, there has been no light fixtures in either the living room or the kitchen. Finally, we have both. Greg found this light fixture at DI for $8, bought an electrical cord for it at Home Depot, mounted a switch onto the cord, and voila! Let there be light.

This same chandelier is $43 at Home Depot...
Thank heaven for DI!

Lots of videos!

These are photos and videos I just discovered on Greg's camera.  His lens is a little scratched, so sorry they're not great quality.  But they're still good!  Some are old, some are new.  The one of him stacking the pieces of metal is from today.  :)

These next four photos are from today- we were over at our friends'/neighbor/person in our ward's house playing in the backyard, and Eddie was having a great time.  Again, sorry the picture quality is so bad- Greg's lens is scratched.

Eddie looks like he's about to fall asleep- he's eating ham.  That kid loves meat.

Greg put a dart on his forehead- weirdos, the lot of them!
Such bad quality- but so cute!
This is how we keep Eddie entertained during Sunday School...put Random Person's lost sunglasses on him and make everyone behind us laugh.

Library-facility check

A couple of pictures of Eddie while we were checking the facility, and a video of him in the public library here. It was so cute- even as tired as he was he didn't want to leave. Another bookworm in the making, I think.
